Genesis Okken, MID, Educator Partner ASID, NCIDQ is a Lecturer and Undergraduate Coordinator at the University of Florida Department of Interior Design. She teaches a wide variety of interior design studios and support courses with research interests in color and design pedagogy. She strives to connect students to industry professionals as much as possible within the curriculum and has a passion for mentorship. As the faculty advisor for the UF interior design student organization (Gator IND), she helps instill the importance of mentorship through intentional pairings between lower and upper classmen. Genesis also organizes programs and events that foster connections between students and design professionals. She hopes to expand intentional mentorship opportunities across the larger body of student members within the ASID Florida North Chapter to recruit and improve diversity within future designers in our local community and beyond.
